The ÖZÄK-Hygieneverordnung 2025 has been in force since 1 May 2025: Anlage 1 documentation requirement, 7-year retention, Class B sterilizer + washer-disinfector mandatory by 1 May 2028 (§ 24 Abs. 3). The ÖZÄK-Hygieneverordnung 2025, in force since 1 May 2025, is the binding dental hygiene regulation in Austria. It requires a Hygieneplan per Anlage 1 (mandatory minimum format), a risk classification per Anlage 2 (4-category schema A/B/C/D by procedure type), and sterilization documentation for every batch — as printout or electronic storage of process parameters (§ 20 Abs. 5, both explicitly equivalent). Class B sterilizer per ÖNORM EN ISO 13060 and washer-disinfector (RDG) per ÖNORM EN ISO 15883 must be in place by 1 May 2028 at the latest for practices that existed on 1 May 2025 (§ 24 Abs. 3). Retention: 7 years (§ 6 Abs. 3). For oral surgery procedures (Category D), Class B is already mandatory now; Categories C and D have a maximum sterile-storage period of 6 months. Inspections by the Bezirksverwaltungsbehörde under § 36 Abs. 2 ZÄG.
