The Ordinationsrichtlinie of the Österreichische Tierärztekammer (OrdiRL 2022, kundgemacht 5 December 2022, in force since 6 December 2022) makes a sterilizer or autoclave mandatory minimum equipment for veterinary practices providing ambulatory treatment to small animals (§ 4 Abs. 1 Z 2 lit. h OrdiRL). Private veterinary clinics need BOTH an autoclave AND a sterilizer (§ 5 Abs. 2 lit. j OrdiRL). Visitenpraxis (livestock and equine, no fixed treatment location) has reduced minimum equipment per § 4 Abs. 2. Veterinary practices are also Einrichtungen des Gesundheitswesens within the meaning of MPG 2021 — MPBV applies analogously. Note: This documentation concerns sterilization of the surgical instrumentation (not the surgical sterilization of animals — spaying/neutering). Inspections by the Bezirksverwaltungsbehörde under § 16 Abs. 4 TÄG.
