Real Decreto 1594/1994 mandates systematic sterilization in dental clinics. Real Decreto 192/2023 (EU MDR implementation) requires full device traceability. Each autonomous community adds specific requirements via regional orders. Practices must have a dedicated sterilization room with forward-flow workflow, a written protocol validated by the practice director, daily Helix/Bowie-Dick tests, weekly biological controls, and process indicators on every pouch. Triple validation (physical, chemical, biological) is required. Records must include date, time, parameters, and operator identity. The 2024-2025 trend is tightened cycle-by-cycle traceability.
