Belgian dental practices must comply with CSS/HGR 8363 (infection control in dental care, May 2011) and CSS/HGR 9682 (sterilization of reusable medical devices). Class B autoclaves are the standard for hollow and wrapped instruments. Compliance is linked to INAMI convention status: a non-compliant practice risks loss of convention (patients lose reimbursement), disciplinary proceedings through the Dental Council, and civil and criminal liability in case of cross-contamination.
