The Royal Decree of 25 November 2005 regulates tattooing and piercing in Belgium. It mandates a Class B autoclave for sterilization of reusable instruments and jewelry, ministerial approval (granted after a mandatory 20-hour hygiene training), a fixed dedicated workspace, written client consent with product lot numbers, and notification to FPS Public Health. Non-compliance is sanctioned under Article 37ter of Royal Decree No. 78: imprisonment of 8 days to 3 years and fines of €160 to €4,000,000.
