Piercing is governed by the same federal framework as tattooing: Loi du 24 mai 2018 and Règlement grand-ducal du 9 novembre 2018. Any person wishing to practice must declare their activity on MyGuichet.lu at least one month before opening, certify a 21-hour hygiene training, and operate from compliant premises. Piercing needles must be strictly single-use. Initial jewelry must be made of biocompatible materials (surgical stainless steel ASTM F138, implantable titanium ASTM F136, niobium, or 14k+ gold) and sterile at placement. Reusable forceps and instruments are sterilized in the autoclave between every client. Inspections are carried out by officers of police judiciaire in liaison with the Inspection sanitaire (info-tatouage@ms.etat.lu / +352 247-82000).
