The Standards explicitly reference EN 17169:2020. Individually wrapped sterile surgical gloves are required for every piercing procedure. Single-use sterile needles only — no reuse permitted. The studio must have a fixed partition of impervious opaque material (≥2m × 2m) separating workstations. Powdered and polythene gloves are prohibited. Initial-piercing jewellery should be biocompatible per the EN ISO 10993 family (Biological evaluation of medical devices). HCSD inspections are unannounced.
